Career and development

IAG has well-established businesses in its home markets of Australia and New Zealand, and a growing presence in Asia.

This allows us to offer career and development opportunities far beyond the reach of just one function, one division or one country. We will do this by supporting the career aspirations of our people, whatever their role or ambition, and by encouraging greater mobility across the Group. But it’s up to each of us to identify what we want from our career and to seek the opportunities that will get us there. Below, some IAG employees talk about their career and development experiences.

Kathy Voukelatos

Operations Manager, Personal Insurance Underwriting Centre, CGU

Kathy Voukelatos sees IAG's career and development opportunities as the key point of difference between IAG and other employers.

"I was at my university careers day looking at different graduate programs, and was initially attracted to CGU because it offered the opportunity to explore different areas of the company, learn new skills and work with leading professionals.

"I started out in Swann and Business Partners in various analytical and strategic roles before moving into a project management role. These roles laid a great foundation for my current position as Operations Manager of CGU's Personal Insurance Underwriting Centre, within the Business Partners division.

"The company's really good at identifying people who put in effort and want to go places. The reason I'm in this role today is because I've had some really great managers who have assisted me in looking for opportunities to help my career.

"I hope I can do the same thing for the people in my team to keep them interested, engaged and learning."

Nasreen Wentzel

Procurement Process Manager, Strategic Partnerships, New Zealand

Our size and structure allow career and development opportunities across different teams, divisions and countries. Nasreen Wentzel has taken on a new role in Strategic Partnerships after almost five years in the Financial Institutions Personal Team.

"This is a completely new career direction for me. I'm a little nervous but very excited about the role.

"IAG has a real commitment to helping its employees. Everyone has the opportunity to set a personal development plan defining your goals and the timeframes for achieving them. Once it's clear you're working hard and performing well, the company will help you develop a career path.

"I also think mentors are really important. Mine have been so generous in sharing their knowledge and have given me the confidence to take on new projects and responsibilities."
