IAG welcomes this positive change to the funding of fire and emergency services in NSW.
We believe that a property based levy is a fairer, simpler and more sustainable approach to funding fire and emergency services. The change will be fairer for our community as these important services will now be funded by all property owners, not just those with insurance.
Removal of the ESL on insurance will also see savings in insurance premiums passed on to customers. This is an important first step in addressing insurance affordability, accessibility and participation. IAG has long advocated for the removal of the ESL and all State government taxes and duties on general insurance products.
